This photographic exhibition at the Museum of Oxford, celebrates the parks and community centres of Florence Park and Cutteslowe. The year 2024 marks the 90th anniversary of the Florence Park estate, 90 years since the Cutteslowe Walls were built and 65 years since they were taken down. ‘Park Life’ puts the spotlight on the past and present of these two vibrant neighbourhoods, both of which are home to thriving communities. The photographs and artworks in this exhibition provide a small snapshot of the histories of these two communities, and their experiences of Oxford’s changing urban environment. The exhibition shows how human and natural communities are closely intertwined within the memories of Oxford’s parks, allotments, and community centres.
